This was a very special weekend for the boys as they participated in their final home tournament as a players for the MVBA.  An added perk was that the boys got to play on the Varsity court for Mounds View High School.  That being said, the boys played a high level this weekend and took advantage of this moment.

In the quarterfinals, we faced off against our rivals from Spring Lake Park.  We had split with the Panters in our two previous meeting this season and were looking forward to the "rubber match" against them.  Smart offense and intense defense led the way for us in a 69-35 victory.  White Bear Lake was our opponent in the semi-finals.  They entered this game with a 25-7 record, and were the big news makers in the Boys 8A world with their hard fought victory over Wayzata A the previous weekend.  The boys were able to get out to decent lead on the Bears in the 2nd half, and were able to hold on at the end to move to Championship game with a 48-42 victory.  In the Championship game, the boys faced off against Champlin Park, arguably the best true community travel team in the state.  The effort was there for us, the execution was there for the most part, however we ran into a great team that simply did not make many mistakes.  In the end, Champlin Park fought off our efforts on their way to a 63-47 Championship victory.

Overall, we currently sit at 19-10 on the season.  We now enter the final two weekends of our season, and this weekend was some of the best overall basketball we have played all season.  This is absolutely the way we need to play this time of the year.  Up next, another "rubber match." This time with the Centennial Cougars at the Roseville Tournament.  It is another tough bracket which should  help get us prepared for State.
